Rage Age AW2011 – Noir Story Categories: men's fashion, photo sessions

The latest collection of Rage Age is inspired by noir style in comic books. This season the Rage Age man, like the heroes of “Sin City”, is dark, rebellious and ambiguous. The collection is maintained in monochrome colours, with strong touches of punk-rock.

Noir comics have gained popularity thanks to the blockbuster adaptations of works by Frank Miller. Decorated in black and white or monochrome colours, noir comics are dark, disturbing and fascinating at the same time.

Rafal Czapul, Rage Age designer:

The king of noir is definitely Frank Miller (author of ” Sin city ” and “300″), this genre is also represented by a cult favourite Ed Brubaker. But I am mainly inspired by brilliant American artist Lee Bermejo.

Comic inspirations can be seen throughout the colours of the collection – Age Rage for autumn/winter 2011 is mainly black and white-gray-silver. These are some of the most important, however they are not the only colours in the collection. Also greyed beige, cobalt-ink, or bottle green appears as counterpoints, contrasting with a monochromatic collection, playing the role of red colour in the comics of Frank Miller.

The latest Rage Age collection also puts a strong emphasis on vintage style – clothes are wrinkled, torn, faded or stained, which perfectly suits the dark aura of “noir.” Additionally, the atmosphere straight from Frank Miller’s comic books is emphasized by punk-rock accents: studs for shirts, bags, shoes, skulls (for shirts and clips), military boots in a modern version, leather pants, or , so called, ramones – biker jackets.

A strong element of autumn/winter 2011 collection are shoes. It is worth mentioning that while working on “Noir Story”, Rage Age teamed up with Bruno Bordes – creator of the cult shoes, who works for Vivienne Westwood, Yoshi Yamamoto, Roberto Cavalli, and Cesare Paciotti. The result of this collaboration are motor inspired shoes “BB Washed for Rage Age”.

I must say that comparing season to season, Czapul’s collections are becoming more and more expressive. I hope that Rafal will continue to follow this road!
